Matrix
Matrix means mother-stone, which can be ironstone or sandstone or both together with opal between. This is a unique and outstanding kind of opal. Its incredible patterns resemble aborigine paintings and produce wonderful visual effects.
Koroit Opalfield
Koroit is a small opal field, hundred years old, only 0.5 x 0.5 square km in size. It is located 80 km from Cunnamulla in south-west Queensland. Only in this area can you find this beautiful stone.
Winton/Opalton Opalfield
This matrix-opal with his brilliant and sparkling colours are found in a worked-out old mine, hidden far away in a station. Originally this opal were treasured in 6 to 8 m deepnes like ancient treeroots. Most of the matrix-opal are blue-green, some of them a bit oxidied, but we also found some with gorgeous red and orange colours.
Lightning Ridge
The center of the Black Opal is Lightning Ridge in South Wales. We buy rough material there.
Our regulary trips to the Opalfields take usually one month and we have to drive about 6000 Km.
